IT Infrastructure Support Engineer

 

Job Description

Starting from a sound base knowledge of the Microsoft Windows Server operating system and infrastructure, to develop the knowledge and understanding to design, create and maintain a datacentre virtual infrastructure and associated SAN storage architecture, as well as customers on-premise infrastructures.

Full mentoring and training will be provided on the expected standards and processes/policies to be followed in order to fulfil this role, but starting from a strong 1st & 2nd line support environment, this would be the ideal opportunity to accelerate your career into a senior infrastructure engineer role.

Following the completion of mentoring and training, with certification where applicable, the role should deliver the following:

Configuration, delivery, quality and integrity of Windows virtual and physical systems as required.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Pre-delivery technical meetings with customers to scope for requirements and provide accurate sizing and costing is essential
  • Analysis of requirements in order to architect technical infrastructure to deliver solutions/ applications.
  • Maintenance of VMWare platforms with regard to operating system upgrades and software/firmware releases
  • High-level design/configuration and delivery of Citrix Xenapp Platform for application hosting / remote access
  • Escalation of service calls with suppliers and partners.
  • Operation and monitoring backup schedules. Forecast throughput to capacity plan for future backup volumes
  • Effective handling of Service Desk fault calls including escalation and liaison with customers where required
  • Liaise with customers to develop/improve required SLAs
  • Provision of Windows & SAN storage with capacity planning for future data growth
  • Maintenance of central storage infrastructure including operating system upgrades and application of firmware patches

Experience

  • Sound technical knowledge of server & desktop hardware
  • Hands on hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Excellent Windows operating system support experience
  • Experience in delivery/support of Microsoft technologies
  • Exposure to VMWare, Linux, TCP/IP routing and firewalls would be advantageous
  • Full Driving License required as some visits to customers sites around the Midlands are necessary.

Salary between £18,000 and £24,000 depending on experience plus generous car allowance, pension and oncall bonus.

1st / 2nd Line Helpdesk Support Technician

 

 

Job Description

 

We Solve IT are a local Managed IT Support company who provide IT support services to local businesses. We are looking for a Heldesk Support Technician to join our team who will provide first and second line support, resolve customer queries and provide excellent customer service.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide 1st / 2nd and some 3rd line support to our clients.
  • Support Citrix and MS Server environments.
  • Develop and build effective relationships with all customers.
  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents.
  • Take ownership of issues by carrying out problem analysis to implement temporary or permanent fixes with the aim of restoring service to staff as soon as possible

Skills required:

  • Experience of basic WAN, LAN support.
  • Previous helpdesk support experience.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server and networking Technologies such as DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP and Active Directory environment essential.
  • Knowledge of Virtualisation & Citrix would be an advantage.
  • Confident telephone manor and strong communication skills are essential.
  • Understanding of PC/Server and networking Hardware required.
  • Strong problem solving and logic skills.
