New Report on Virtualisation in Finance Sector

Symantec have released a new report on the adoption of virtualisation and cloud computing in the European finance sector. The study looked into the awareness, adoption, goals and challenges of organisations in the finance sector, compared to other industries, and provides some interesting indications of how the technology is being considered across the sector.

The results show that financial services institutions in Europe are more engaged in discussing emerging technologies (including cloud computing, virtualisation and mobile) than other industries and have robust IT budgets to implement new systems. But there is a distinct gap between expectancy and realisation and concerns about security and compliance - two major issues that this market have to grapple with in any area of IT - are a barrier to virtualisation being more widely adopted.
